Sheila Singam

Sheila Singam has a passion for helping others unleash their potential to achieve success. She is an inspiring agent for change, having gone through some exciting career changes in her life, and believes that change brings growth and a strong sense of achievement. Her passion is delivering training programmes that transform employee mindsets and behaviours. She has successfully been doing this for the past 12 years for several corporations and across a variety of industries, through programmes that successfully blend NLP and contemporary theories.
Sheila has an Honours degree in Mathematics and Chemistry and a Diploma in Education. She is a Trainer of Neuro Linguistic Programming and NLP Coaching certified by the American Board of Neuro Linguistic Programming and a Trainer of Time Line Therapy® Master Practitioner certified by the Time Line Therapy® Association. She is also certified trainer by the Human Resource Development Fund (HRDF) under Malaysia’s Ministry of Human Resources. She holds a Post-Graduate Diploma in Innovation and Design Thinking jointly delivered by MIT Sloan, Columbia Business School and Tuck School of Business and has a certificate in Story Telling from IDEO U and a Virtual LearnCaster certification.
Sheila has experience in the fields of sales, training, and communications. She has been at different times a teacher, sales professional, journalist and training and communications consultant during the course of her 30-year career. She began working life as a Mathematics teacher. Wanting a change after more than a decade, she moved into the field of real estate sales and was subsequently offered the position of Recruitment and Training Manager, where she developed the recruitment and sales training programme for real estate negotiators.
Sheila’s love for writing led her into the field of journalism. She wrote for Malaysian publications like The Sun, The New Straits Times and The Edge over a 10-year period, and in the process, honed her communication skills, garnered knowledge on various industries and interviewed a number of well-known personalities.
She left the media to join the training arm of prominent Malaysian public-listed business process outsourcing company Scicom where, as Senior Consultant, she developed a gamut of corporate training programmes incorporating NLP principles. She moved from Scicom to international professional development consultancy VIA Group, where she designed and conducted professional development programmes on leadership, coaching, communication, change management, motivation, media relations, team building and a host of other areas related to the corporate sector.
She subsequently set up her own professional development and communications vehicle, Human Equation Sdn Bhd to accelerate the growth of corporations by developing the potential of their workforce and enhancing their performance. Aside from conducting training, she also does executive coaching and offers consultancy services in innovation and ideation.
Sheila is much sought after for her training and presentation skills and has been featured on talk shows on Malaysian television stations on Astro and on the country’s most popular business radio station, BFM89.9, where she has a monthly series called Tools for Transformation. She has written regularly for Malaysian Reserve and is currently a columnist for The Star.
